Superleggera

Joe Colombo created Superleggera in 1964. The Italian manufacturer B-Line produces the convenient arm chair as a remake since 2004.

Superleggera is a sophisticated arm chair which is composed of a curved multilayer walnut structure and a padded cushion with leather upholstery. Some of the many features that make Superleggera unique in its genre are: the absence of joining elements between the various parts of the structure, the anatomical shape of the cushion and the craftsmanship that goes into making it with a large number of seams sewed by hand.

Early versions of the arm chair have already been produced by the manufacturers Comfort and Bieffeplast and distributed under the name Supercomfort. Due to its futuristic look and a certain resemblance to the lunar modules of the 60s, Superleggera/Supercomfort was also called “Lem” (Lunar Excursion Modules).
