Iittala
People have become aware of the value of durable design and it seems like the designers that work for Iittala are not entirely innocent of that. Iittala has always stuck to the principle that good design has to pass the test of regular use. Therefore, the products do not only have to resist the daily wear, but they also have to be able to outlive changes in taste and trends so that they are appreciated even after years.

Many of the earliest designs are still sought-after and still being produced: This adds a special credibility to Iittala. Iittala makes an effort to create things that think ahead. No matter what you buy, all the things should get a deeper sense besides their shape and their apparent function. Some of the ideas can be characterised as brilliant, others are thoughtful and praiseworthy.
Kid's dishes, for instance, help the little ones to get along with the table just like their parents. The kids of course are not aware of it, but every single object was created the way that children get the feeling to be skilled and therefore become more self-confident. Certainly, it would not be amiss to design the set in a funny way so that the children look forward to the meals.
Due to their materials, other objects are unique as well. The red Aalto vase Savoy, for instance, consists of genuine red glass, an art that only little manufacturers have a command of and use it. This uniqueness results from the use of special materials, in this case from the admixture of gold salts that gives the vase this distinctive colour brilliance.
