Franz Maurer was born in 1963 in Vienna.
After graduating from the polytechnic Mödling, Austria, in interior design and an apprentice as a cabinet maker, Franz Maurer works freelancing in furniture, lamp and product design in Vienna.
His method of work is classical; he focuses while designing on the function and as well on the material of a product.

“ I try to combine functionality and creativity in my conceptions. My conceptions are characterized by a clear line and consist of material which derived from the industrial sphere.
The emphasis in his activities sets Maurer in the areas of light, furniture, product design and packing.
His preferred material is metal, but also, when using other industrial materials, he pays attention to using the full potential.
